Other Digital Preservation and Archiving Initiatives: Panel

This panel will outline the efforts of some preservation and dissemination projects that are related to PAD: Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard, Text Encoding Initiative, Archiving the Avant Garde, and the recent XML/relational database redesign of the Electronic Book Review. Participants will describe the types of digital objects they target, their methodologies, and how their work overlaps with and needs to be extended by the work of PAD. This panel combined with the presentation made by Matt Kirschenbaum should provide a good understanding of where other related work can be leveraged by PAD and where PAD needs to make original contributions to the field of digital preservation and dissemination.
